Synopsis

Adaptation of William Shakespeare's play about a young woman who poses as a boy and the complications that ensue when another young woman becomes infatuated with her. Look-alike sister Viola and brother Sebastian are shipwrecked and each presumes the other dead. Viola lands in the kingdom of Illyria and, disguised as a boy, becomes the attendant and confidante of Duke Orsino, who's in love with Countess Olivia. Olivia uses her bereavement over the recent death of her brother to avoid seeing Orsino, whom she does not love. When Orsino sends Viola, renamed Cesario, to woo Olivia for him, Olivia falls for Viola as Cesario, who is in love with Orsino. Things are complicated further when Sebastian, with his strong resemblance to Viola/Cesario, resurfaces in Illyria.
