Synopsis

In her dramatic television debut, Ann-Margret is the true-life Lucile Fray, an Iowa farm woman with ten children who, discovering she has terminal cancer and feeling her alcoholic husband (Frederic Forrest) is unable to care for the kids, sets out to find new homes for each of them. Ann-Margret's Emmy Award nomination, and the one for the film itself as Outstanding Drama Special, were two of the ten it received. Director John Erman won an Emmy, and other nominations went to writer Michael Bortman, composer Laurence Rosenthal, and for editing, makeup, and film sound editing.
