An "ABC Afterschool Specials" presentation. A successful working mother relationship with her daughter becomes strained over career objectives. Donna Crandall struggled to become a success in her own career as an anchorwoman, and derives pleasure from the fact that her daughter, Noelle, can benefit from the advantages of today's society. Noelle, a gifted science student, derives more satisfaction from working as a mother's helper for a neighbor, and establishes a special bond with the children. She becomes torn between pursuing her own goals, or those her mother has set for her.
