Synopsis
Inspirational Disney movie based on the true story of a teenaged Cambodian refugee who spoke little English when she arrived in the United States in 1970 but went on to become a spelling bee champion within four years. Set in Chattanooga, Tenn., it was filmed by Australian director Simon Wincer (his first American television film) in Vancouver, British Columbia, and originally was titled "The Story of Linn Yann." It received an Emmy Award nomination as Outstanding Children's Program.
