Synopsis

On January 15, 1950, 11 men crept into the Brink's North Terminal Garage in Boston. Wearing Halloween masks and carrying long-barrel revolvers, the men made it into the cage where the money from the armored cars was kept, and within 15 minutes, ran out with $1,218,211 in cash and $1,481,789 in checks and securities. The case remained unsolved for six years, because the men planned not to touch the money until the state's statue of limitations expired. But when one of the robbers complained he had been cheated, the others took out a contract on his life, and he went to the police for a plea-bargain. The program also covers art and antiquities thieves Richard Lucas and Thomas Atkinson. Lucas, a self-described art expert, met Thomas Atkinson in the late 1980s and over a period of six years they hired a gang of thieves, hit at least 27 institutions, and got away with over $3 million in antiquities.
