Rostrup is one of Denmark's foremost stage directors, and his first film, "Jeppe of the Hill," was adapted from a popular 18th century Danish play. "Waltzing Regitze" (1989) is a poignant, meticulously observed study of the marriage between a spirited woman and her plodding, well-meaning husband.
