Springer began his career with roles in "Law and Disorder" (1974) with Carroll O'Connor, the Al Pacino crime picture "Dog Day Afternoon" (1975) and "Night Terror" (NBC, 1976-77). He then acted in "Once an Eagle" (1976-77), the John Heard drama "Between the Lines" (1977) and the Roy Scheider action picture "Jaws 2" (1978). He also appeared in "The $1000 Bill" (ABC, 1978-79) and "Hometown USA" (1979). Later in his career, Springer acted in the drama "A Small Circle of Friends" (1980) with Brad Davis.
