Private Screenings: Robert Mitchum/Jane Russell (1996) is a rare, dual interview with two Hollywood legends who worked together on two classic film noirs: His Kind of Woman (1951) and Macao (1942).

Highlights of Private Screenings: Mitchum and Russell include Mitchum sharing his thoughts on film noir, why he has seen so few of his movies and why he turned down the title role in the movie PATTON, while Russell shares the inside scoop on her friend and co-star Marilyn Monroe and mogul Howard Hughes.

Excerpts include:

Mitchum on the dark look of OUT OF THE PAST:
Truth was it wasn't film noir. The high-priced actors like Cary Grant back at the studios got all the lights. So ours {set} was lit with cigarettes."

Mitchum on Why He Has Seen So Few of His Films:
"They don't pay you to see them. They say, 'That's a wrap,' and that's it. Go cash the check."

Russell on Getting Wise to the Media:
"When we were on location...the guys would try to get away with anything and everything they could. They would go up on balconies and shoot down {to get bust shots}. It was all over the magazines. Later, they'd say, "..Lean over and pick up the pail, honey" and I'd say, "Up yours, buddy.
