  • Andy hardy gets serious

Dilemmas abound for every Hardy family member except the well grounded judge Hardy. A more serious and somewhat darker entry in the Andy Hardy series. Donna Reed is fetching as the socially challenged Melody who has the added stigma of having parents who are contemplating divorce in the early 1940's, a less forgiving time for such an action. Andy's longtime girl friend, Polly shows up towards the end of the movie and Andy questions his decision to stay loyal to Polly in spite of Melody's overt infatuation with him. In my opinion, Donna Reed as Melody has it all over every other girl in the movie and as Andy laments to his father, he hopes he will not regret choosing Polly over Melody. Believe me, he will.

A rather enjoyable film with lots of endearing charcaters. A little hard to believe that the very lovely Donna Reed is being portrayed as a 'plain jane" that no guy would want to date!

I saw this Andy Hardy on TCM. Absolutely one of the best AH movies. Andy pays his buddies to dance with Donna Reed, Judge Hardy lectures on drunk driving, The family greeting Sis's date in Pajamas. All outstanding. To have two complete Esther Williams sets and only three or four Andy Hardy's individual on DVD is marketing misplaced. We have movie nights with my two teenagers and ALL their friends. All they want to watch is Andy and his antics and"walks through the woods."

Very enjoyable Andy Hardy movie, this one goes back to focusing on the entire family and their trials and tribulations. Donna Reed makes an appearance early in her career. Well written.
