What an amazing celluloid gem this film is. One could only imagine what Timothy Carey would have made if he had studio backing for his visions. I was totally overwelmed by this film, hypnotically altered. This film changed my life.I love the fact that you either "LOVE" or "HATE" this film! There is no grey area when it comes to creative greatness.God Bless you TCM!

I thought this movie was very good, very strange!

I loved the intensity of this film. Although his directorial skills were somewhat lacking (weird scene cuts), the fact that the film was made over a four year period excuses this for me. This film was clearly a labor of love and pyschosis. Films like this are why I love cinema so much.

  • Thanks for WORLD'S GREATEST SINNER

Must commend the programmer(s) for the TCM Underground Series....have been impressed by the line-up thus far and was totally blown over the selection of Timothy Carey's THE WORLD'S GREATEST SINNER. Have wanted to see this since first hearing of it back in the 1980s. Thanks so much for making it possible!

  • Worst Movie...EVER!

I can't believe this guy! He may have been able to act if he wasn't so wasted! The plot (if you can call it one) bounces from the incoherant ramblings of this drugged out moron to him trying to live in a porn flick to egotistical grandeur and back too many times. If I would have paid money to see this in 1962, I would have hunted him down to kick his butt and return my money!

Wow, this was certainly a product of the 60's. Timothy Carey appeared to be "high as a kite". The dialogue, plot, camera, etc. make this movie look like it is just a "bad trip" that is filmed. Looks like Mr. Carey blew the budget on whatever it was that he was high on, and everything leftover was invested in the bags of fertilizer he used as a "soapbox". Bad movie, really BAD movie.

  • As a sinner he's a winner

A true independent artiiste, a truly independent film. Tim Carey's from the heart tale should not be missed. Unique story and acting combine with a brilliant score to create this morality tale of man as star/ politician/ GOD. This is what art is really all about, think it, write it, make it. Mr. Carey pulled it off and in the process helped discover the great Mr. Zappa. And only the great TCM could bring it to a wide audience 40+ years later. True creativity, real art, A MUST SEE !!!!!
