The opening and closing cast credits vary in order. Although the onscreen credits contain a 1958 copyright statement for Tropical Pictures, Inc., the picture is not included in the Copyright Catalog. The following written acknowledgment appears in the opening credits: "Grateful acknowledgement is extended to the following for the actual set locations used throughout this production: Coral Castle of Florida (temple scenes), Tahiti Beach, Parrot Jungle, Fairchild Tropical Garden." The credits also note that underwater scenes were photographed at Florida's Silver Springs.
Although cast credits in the PCA file list a character as "Gahpo," it is unclear in the film if the character is called "Gahpo" or "Ako." No exact release date or American reviews have been found for the picture, although according to information in NYSA records, the picture was approved for exhibition in New York state in 1959. In 1993, the pop music group The Tubes released a song entitled "Wild Women of Wongo" on their album "Outside, Inside," but it is unrelated to the film.
