  • "WHITE ZOMBIE" (1932)

This is one of my TOP favorite Bela Lugosi Horror films and one of my favorite Zombie movies also. Unlike most modern Zombie films that are all about the gore, "White Zombie" very effectly uses doom-laden eerieness and atmosphere to tell the story. One of Lugosi's MOST CREEPIEST ROLES !

  • More than just Bela to like here...

Halperin was able to establish some great moments in this movie. The whinning pitch of the sugar cane grinder at the mill was executed with an erie precision. Providing the only "music" needed to set the mood for this scene. Futhermore his use of shadow and light was at times stunning and artistic. As far as Lugosi, White Zombie rivials Dracula for me. Which almost pains me becasue I love Tod Browning's work. This is a great film that must be watched by any fan of classic film.

By todays standards this is pretty hokey, but it does have some genuinely eerie moments and also some great photography.

This movie is nothing short of great. This is almost as good as the "devil bat".You can't beat Bela is this type of movie. My girlfriend Allison demands that we see this movie at least once a month.I agree that a couple bottles of vodka help to create a good mood for viewing.

  • Awful scary

This is one of the best films I have ever seen.Scary as all get out.Bela once again gets kudos for his performence.I am not one to boast however,I have seen this movie at least 75 times.Give me a couple bottles of vodka and this dvd and I will have a party.Darn good stuff.

Bela Lugosi made this shortly after Dracula. It is quite dated by todays standards. It is kind of like a dream in the way it looks. It was quite cheaply made but it has a certain atmosphere where there are long periods of silence which work very well.Zombies and the undead abound. If you like old horror films then this is for you. This is not a Universal film but a independent film made by the Halpern brothers.
