Harryhausen at his "Dynamation" best.
- Tracy Bellows
Ray Harryhausen was indeed the best in his field of special effects. His dinosaur creations including Gwangi actually an allosaurus was brought to life great. Also a good cast makes this sci-fi western fantasy a must see for fans.
Harryhausen's best "Dino" work!
- Thomas Wisneski
Ray Harryhausen will forever be the biggest inspiration to any special effects person in the business. His fantasy films will live on to be enjoyed -- as will his films of prehistoric creatures. He offered us the best dinosaur movie ever made (including Jurassic Park), in "The valley of the Gwangi". The effects and creatures (and their movements) are without equal. Enjoy the film...cowboys and dinosaurs, what more could you ask for.
Different kind of western
- Troy Ratliff
This is an offbeat scifi western that is very entertaining. One would think mixing western cowboys and dinasours would be laughable, but director Jim O'Connolly pulls it off very well. The special effects by Ray Harryhausen are really well done and James Franciscus does a good job in the leading role. Gina Golan is always great to look at and, if you like horses, you'll like this movie. It has a wonderful score that will remind you of the score from the Big Country.
