I loved this movie so much I named my first horse Tonka Wakan, I'd love to see it again. ;-)
Saw this in gradeschool.
We saw this in school..loved it..will never forget the name..want to see it again.
Saw the original release as a 12 year old
Would love to see this movie again - - could be released on DVD or shown on the Disney Channel,Encore Westerns or Turner Classic Movies. Tonka Wakan was the only survivor of the Big Horn and the movie said he was placed on display after his death (if I remember correctly).
Needs to be released for younger generations!
Love this movie!
I think classics like this should be made available on DVD so they are not lost. These kinds of classics must be seen by all generations because it was film making at it's best for that era. My grandchildren have the right to watch these classics to see how film making evolved to what it is today. Please make more classics available for future generations!
TONKA must be released onto DVD!
This is a wonderful film from Disney. While fictional, it still captures the tale based on history. It was the first to show the Little Big Horn battle in seperate locations and not all grouped together on a hill. It showed Custer carrying Bulldog pistols for the first time. The late Britt Lomond was very good as Custer even though the part was totally fictional in everything but name. Many of today's Custer Historians began their interest on the subject because of Britt Lomond. This movie must be released onto DVD and now!
