Thunderbirds Are Go (1968)
- Mr. Blandings
- 8/28/12
Great and iconic model design work and puppetry, but the effects take precedence here and so scenes drag out far longer than they're welcome. This movie is essentially an hour-and-a-half version of a typical episode of the Thunderbirds, each of which are already a half-hour longer than they should be given their usual emphasis on displaying visual effects beyond the scope of their simple plots. Yes, FX take all the time and all the money, however seeing endlessly repeated scenes where nothing important is happening grates on the nerves after a time and spoils the overall impact.
