Magnificent!

What a glorious film! The cinematography is superb! You see actual models of the planes of the day in 1914, beautiful costuming authentic for the period, fantastic automobiles of the era. The film is funny in so many ways and the actors are first-class. The animosity displayed between the nations vying for the race and its prize would be the same today. National pride has not changed! This is such a delightful film. Not to be missed!

Great Fun!

This is a wonderful '60s-era British romp in the spirit of some more familiar contemporary American offerings such as The Great Race or It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World. It features great British humo(u)r, both subtle and overt, plenty of eye candy for the aviation buff, and classic performances from Terry Thomas as the devious cad, Gert Frobe as the imperious German officer, and Benny Hill as the fire warden, among many others. Don't miss it!

STEREOTYPES IN THIS MOVIE

Theres more cultural stereotypes in this movie than all others combined. Just the same it's probably an accurate view of the pretentiousness and dislike between the nationalities at that time. Good color and costumes. No Doris this is not a five star movie.
