If I had wanted to get the feeling that I was watching a community play, in a community theatre...then I turned on my TV at the perfect time. Sadly, that is not what I wanted to do. Turned it off after suffering through 31 minutes.

Tony Tanner and Millicent Martin plus cast are superb in their "High Art" adaptation of interpretation of Mime and Song. I studied the fine arts of Drawing, Paintng and printmakig of that same time-period - 1966. I was able to visualize painting narratives from this fine work.

If I had a choice between contracting chlamydia and watching this film again, I would pick the disease.

There are some London West End and New York Broadway plays that translate well into a film but this isn't one of them! In the story, a play is being given in front of an audience. It is veddy, veddy British, with all of the actors being British. It is annoying in the extreme, as most of the story is in song. This was a vehicle for Anthony Newley and strictly Anthony Newley. He starred in the original play in London and in New York. He may not star in the film but he directs it and it is his music. The film was badly received both critically and commercially and you need only watch it to discover why! Absolutely a waste of time!
