Good western with Glenn Ford and Gene Tierney.

  • I would love to see this movie if even just once.

I have been traveling to convict lake for fishing now for at least 45 years. My grandfather took me there when I was just a small boy and taught me how to Fly Fish. I have never before seen a more beautiful place in my life and plan to burried there when I leave this earth. My wife was telling me that she had seen the very last minutes of this movie The Secrets of Convict Lake on your channel. Ever since that time I have looked high and low for the movie which I just found out does not excist on DVD. I some much would love to add this movie to my collection if it ever became avalible on DVD. But until then I would just be happy watching it on TCM. It is now 9:00 PM. and my wife and I have packed the car and will be making our once a year vacation stop at Convict lake in about 8 hours. I have heard all the stories on Convict Lake, to even reading the books on the location and its history.ThanksJeff Johnson

  • Unusual film that can't be pigeon-holed

This is a very unusual and interesting film that doesn't fit into a genre, being a bit western, drama and thriller. It has an excellent cast, with the great Ethel Barrymore in a late role, as the matriarch of the group of women. Glenn Ford, as one of the convicts, has good chemistry with Gene Tierney, especially in the romantic scenes. Zachary Scott does his slimy charmer character as well as ever. All the cast do very well and it's not easy to predict the outcome. If you fancy something different, this is it.
