Jean Harlow is terrific in this film. Spencer Tracy is good, but the talent in young Mickey is also noteworthy; it's easy to see why he played in "Down the Stretch" soon afterward. Not long before this film, Mickey gave his stellar performance in "Midsummer." Mickey is 14-15 yrs old, & carries himself & speaks w/such confidence, that I'm sure the actors must've been impressed by his natural talent. A very young Juanita Quigley also sounded like a natural on camera. This movie is child & young teen-friendly.

Watching Harlow and Tracy is a real treat. The film is an enjoyable watch. A grand view of of filmmaking in the thirties. My personal favorite era. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to see this movie. Mickey Rooney also does a great job in his small roll.

75/100. The cast alone make this one worth watching. Jean Harlow and Spencer Tracy make a good team, and Harlow is so wonderful in this. Fine story, typical MGM high quality from that era. Well photographed. The story does have some holes in the plot, but it's still a very enjoyable classic. A very young Mickey Rooney is great in a small role
