  • A Great Treat

Excellent fifteenth century (?) costume drama about fight to dominate Italian states. Tyrone Power is in his element and cannot be beaten at playing this type of character. He oozed charm and intelligence and is both terrifically handsome and crafty in his dealings with all the other characters, even his own mother. The Italian setting is beautiful. This is a fun picture with a great cast and story. Great that it's on DVD in boxed set. For those who don't collect DVDs would be nice to see it featured on TCM sometime.

I love this movie! Tyrone Power plays an envoy to Citta Del Monte, who works for warlord, Cesare Borgia. Borgia has ambitions to dominate all of Italy. Power is wonderfully adept at this kind of swashbuckler and a pleasure to watch as adventurer and romantic lead. The production and the story are first rate and the scenes of Italy are ravishingly beautiful. Uncomplicated adventure story and a treat in every way.

  • Italian Adventure is Beautifully Filmed and Acted

Great settings filmed all over Italy provide stunning backgrounds for this constume drama. Dashing and charismatic Tyrone Power is clearly enjoying his Italian sojourne and leaves the bluff bravado to hammy Orson Wells. Power plays well with the very interesting actor, Everett Sloan. The excellent plot moves quickly and there's a visual feast in every scene. Wanda Hendricks is fresh and charming as the love interest. The production and musical score are richly rewarding. Favorite scene is Tyrone stepping out of the action momentarily to do a doubletake to watch a pretty female contortionist /acrobat. What a riot!
