A light, enjoyable Western comedy. Russell is Calamity Jane, who uses cowardly dentist Hope is her mission to find out who's selling arms to the Native Americans. Won an Oscar for the song "Buttons and Bows;" the politically- incorrect Native American jokes are, in my opinion, the film's weakest points, but the overall film has great quips and moments of physical comedy by Hope. Fun and entertaining. I give it a 4/5.
Sold this one short
I did not think I would like this film; misjudged it. Would you please show it again? Thank you so much.
Always enjoy seeing this on TCM!
Radiant as ever
Jane Russell is radiant as ever, but Hope's humor is very dated. Bob's movies don't age well including his "Road" pictures.
