I saw this film in 1970 in Waikiki,Hi. I had just returned from my second tour in the Nam and I was stoned on Mescaline, I came out of the theater believing I had just learned the secret of what life was all about. This knowledge lasted until I entered Mr. Scottie's Shoe Shine Place and purchased a topless shoe shine and a tasty non-alcohol fruit beverage.

I am an avid TCM fan, and enjoy the classics very much. However, when I had the chance to watch Alex In Wonderland, it was disappointing. The caption of "Alice In Wonderland" followed by a visual introduction to the film entirely throws a viewer off. There is no continuity, and no real clear point of what the writer is trying to tell its audience until almost more than half way through the film.Donald Sutherland is by far one of the best film actors around compared to others within the film industry. But, I didn't feel that this film embraced him as an actor with his incredible talent. While sitting through the film I was more frustrated than enjoying what I thought was going to be quite an intriguing movie with substance to capture audience attention.I would rate this film with 1 1/2 stars, and that's being quite generous. In retrospect as I think back upon watching the film, were it not due to the fact that the list of actors involved, (in their own right - well known and respected in their craft); I would not have sat through more than five minutes of the film.
