After "The Exorcist," this is the best horror film about the Devil in the real world. Peck & Remick are the unintentional parents of the Antichrist, each giving superb performances. Goldsmith's score won an Oscar, and the subject is treated with great respect and depending on the viewer's faith's, interpret the actions and story in different ways. A dark, uncompromising horror film. I give it a 4.5/5.

Certainly better produced than most horror films, and a big star cast to boot. Still, I found it to be a bit far-fetched and hard to swallow. But, the professionalism involved make it worth watching.

  • Scariest movie ever!

I have watched this movie over and over and find it to be so creepy that I get chills just thinking about it. Gregory Peck is outstanding. The child who plays Damien has a beautiful face and can make your blood run cold. The nanny part just couldn't have been better acted. The priest, the photographer, those "devil dogs" in that cemetery scene - just excellent! Please show this movie more often. I promise I will watch it!
