built like a tank.. her wit has an edge just like a dart. if there was a rulebook for playing miss marple..she tore it apart. sorry purists.. the crusty kid is still number one and still holds the crown. get your young hot babes like the lady from murder she wrote and those other foxy doily wearing 67 to 82 year olds..sex appeal can not beat quality. unless it is helen Mirren.. she does not count. while this movie and film series differs from the books..it is fun and interesting. it proved a person did not have to be a set physical type to be popular in a genre. the story holds up. it help to increase the popularity of the most successful mystery writer of all time. that in it self is amazing.
Why were these never offered in DVDs?

Lovely, funny and as always irresistible Margaret Rutherford! Why oh why, are these never offered as DVDs?
First Of A Great Lot
Although she only made 4 Miss Marples,I enjoy every single second!Dame Agatha may have objected, but she dedicated THE MIRROR CRACKED to Dame Mags.Always adore the scenes between Stringer and Miss M!Cute ending with the elderly bloke deciding he wants to marry Marples.Loved the kid & Miss M.
Margaret Rutherford is a gem.

It's Margaret Rutherfords' birthday and all four (Murder She Said (1961), Murder at the Gallop (1963), Murder Most Foul (1964), & Murder Ahoy (1966) ) of her Miss Marple movies are being shown this morning. British comedy is odd. You get it or you don't. When I watch Margaret Rutherford I laugh till I cry while others sit there stonefaced. TCM should show these more often than once a year. Oh, and her Oscar winning turn as Best Supporting Actress in The VIPS (1963) is being shown this afternoon. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor made this right after Cleopatra (1963). Burton & Taylor are cast as a couple having an affair & debating all through the film whether to connect permanently or break-up. For people of a certain age, The VIPS is a classic of intentional comedy (Rutherford) & unintentional comedy (Burton and Taylor). Thank you TCM for this revival of lesser known films.
Margaret Rutherford A Great Actress
Enjoyed tonight's Agatha Christie salute, and esp this film.Loved the young boy,Alexander, what a delightful aide to Miss Marple.Great theme music.Glad to see Stringer,Mags husband too.
My fellow reviewers hit the nail right on the head. All of us evidently agree that this film - and the others in this marvelous series - are just the ticket, as Miss Marple might say, when a little rain enters your life, whether literally or figuratively. And if you feel a sore throat or head cold coming on, I highly recommend watching Margaret Rutherford spring into action to avenge murder in St. Mary Mead, while you lounge in your favorite pj's and down some hot chicken soup or a pot of your favorite tea. It may well save you a trip to the doctor - enjoy! (By the way, all of the films are available on VHS, and maybe CD as well, including as a boxed set.)
Miss Marple Series
Enjoyed watching this version of Miss Marple, especially on a gray rainy day with a pot of tea. I saw the series a few years ago, so it was great to see this again. I also just realized that Joan Hickson who also played Miss Marple in the 80's, is in this movie too. I hope TCM plays the series on Saturday mornings.
I was ready to turn off tv...Saturday errands.before the rain!Luckily i surfed....just as this was beginning....here iam drinking a hotcup of tea...Thoroughly enjoying...this wonderful classic film...the actors. Margaret Rutherford is a captivating actress. Now if I could just figure out when TMC is re-running these classics, I'd be happy. :)
