Sophia Loren at her most beautiful
The title of this review is the only positive thing that I have to say about this movie. Odd pairing of stars and foolish story line. As a fan of costume designers, only watched through to the end to see all of Loren's outfits.
A DISJOINTED MOVIE
- william gauslow
Sellers and Loren both provide a good performance in a disjointed movie. Was good see both in their younger years.
Loren Brings Down Shaw & Sellers

Sophia Loren was miscast! Did anyone involved read Shaw's play?
Peter Sellers is wasted in this unfunny flop!
- Richard Guenther
I was excited about watching this early Peter Sellers romantic comedy, but it is so badly written that there are absolutely no laughs in this movie. He plays a very serious, sad, and often agitated character, who is amazed that a very gorgeous and rich woman is trying to woo him into marrying her. Sophia Loren's character is so completely different from his character that they have nothing in common. She needs to get married in order to collect her rich father's inheritance, so in her haste she is flirting with every man that she meets. Every 2 minutes she is popping up in a new outfit and a new fashionable hat. This movie didn't make much sense to me, and to not find anything to laugh at was very disappointing to me.
