one of the best movies EVER made - and I was only 11 years old when I first saw it. Needs to be shown again, again and again!

As a young girl looking for love & adventure, I found this movie one that I got totally immersed in! It was so idealistic & romantic! What young girl could resist the suave & sophisticated Noel Airman & the complete awe & love Marjorie had for him. She saw something in him that he had pushed aside, but she kindled that passion in him again. He strove again to be that person he once thought he could be. But, in the end, it wasn't to be. The dreams and idealism were replaced by reality & pain. I think it's a tour de force for Gene Kelly & Natalie Wood does an excellent job of being so so enamored & hopeful about their relationship. She may have been a bit stiff at times, but she conveys her emotions well. Martin Milner plays his supporting role very effectively & ultimately, an important one. I'd really appreciate it if TCM would put this movie on your schedule in the near future, so everyone can experience Gene Kelly as a romantic lead, which most of us haven't really seen him portray in the movies.

Well produced melodrama. Natalie Wood is a little stiff in her acting, but Gene Kelly does well enough. Good story, but a little overly dramatic. Some of the music is outstanding.

Anything NYC and Natalie, is a winner! The movie is sophisticated and I love that Natalie bounces back at the end.

Well, I must say that this is one of my least favorite movies of GENE. The charm is still there, the good looks and sensuality, but this movie depicted him as nearly washed up,(in the movie, not in real life)a way that "GENE" fans don't necessarily want to see him portray. But it is still nice to watch. Much credit to "Marjorie" for falling in love with him ("Noel Airman") and and for believing in him when he seemed to have had no hope in himself. GENE played his role with excellence, as usual inthat he showed that not being able to have "Majorie" drove him to drink, but he gave his career (in the movie) one last hard try. And can you believe that in the end he didn't get the girl this time, but mainly because he chose not to. But no matter how his character roles called for him to play, GENE still delighted the hearts of many.
