Jean Peters and Jeffery Hunter
- Delores Dial
- 9/16/13
I have a signed picture of Jean Peters, Jeffery Hunter, and one other person that was given to my father during the filming of this movie. My father worked at the Okefenokee Swamp during this time and I would love to see this movie. Does anyone know how I can get a copy?

Lure of the wilderness
- Paul Baro
- 8/13/13
One of the first movies I saw in my childhood has left a deep impression of nature in relation to humans. This in combination with the beautifull Jean Peeters and handsome Jeffrey Hunter made that I never forgot this film. Would sure like to see it again on DVD.

One of my earliest memories!
- Steve Van Osdell
- 11/23/09
I was born in September of 1949, so you can see that I was only about 3 years old when this movie hit town in Baton Rouge. It is one of my earliest memories. I remember the big promotion for it at the theater (I believe it played at the old Paramount) with a trailer parked out front sort of like a parade float and decorated like the swamp with paper mache' alligators and all! I don't actually remember much about the movie and haven't been fortunate enough to see it since 1952 (would love to have a copy if anyone recorded it from TCM) except the part where Jeff Hunter is deep part of the swamp and almost lost and kneeling down by his dog. I was standing up in the seat at the theater, and I remember (with the help of my parents telling me about it over and over) that right at this suspenseful moment when everyone was quiet, I loudly asked my father 'Daddy, is that that boy's coon dog?' to which everyone in the theater died laughing - or so my parents said. I'd give anything to see this movie again to see if it sparked any other dormant memories. I remember the girl in it was very pretty but don't remember what she looked like.
