NOTES

powered by AFI

The working titles of this film were The Amazons and Women of Green Hell. Curt Siodmak's onscreen credit reads: "Written, produced and directed by Curt Siodmak." The opening credits include the statement "Filmed in Brazil through the facilities of the Vera Cruz Studios, So Bernardo." The closing credits begin with the following written statement: "We gratefully acknowledge the cooperation of the Brazilian Air Force at Belem, Para." According to a 22 March "Rambling Reporter" item in Hollywood Reporter, portions of the film were also shot in Rio So Paolo.
Terry Morse's onscreen credit reads: "Associate producer and second unit director." In his autobiography, Siodmak named James Pratt as the film's executive producer, and declared that many of his desires, including the casting of Stephanie Powers, were denied by Universal's tightly controlling executives. The Hollywood Reporter reviewer noted that the work print screened at the press preview was almost entirely in black-and-white.
