Betty Brown, a decorator who loves George Wayne, goes with him to a mountain cabin on the promise that he will marry her in the future, but he soon leaves her. She goes to Europe to forget the affair and meets Masters. He falls in love with her, but she refuses to marry him because of her past; however, when Masters' married sister convinces her that she is foolish, Betty becomes his wife. Later, Betty and Masters are called for jury duty in the trial of a girl accused of killing a lover who had abandoned her and the child he had fathered. Betty is astounded to realize that Wayne was this man, and she alone votes not guilty; then, when she relates her own experiences with Wayne, the jury agrees on the acquittal. She is forgiven by her husband.
