This was a pretty good movie. Elvis really did seem like the clueless little brother. The only part that seemed a bit odd was when he was singing with his band at the town fund raising fair. That certainly didn't fit the time period. I'm glad I saw this first of Elvis' movies. I've seen a lot of the others and I kind of like most of them as well.

Until tonight, I hadn't seen this film since its release in 1956. I was 11 years old at the time and swooned over Elvis! Couldn't wait until I had his 45rpm of the title song... All these decades later, I can see how good he actually was as an actor. It's such a shame Colonel Parker insisted on all of those hip-shaking singing films when he had a real acting talent on his hands. Mention should be made here of Debra Paget int his film. She is great and so beautiful too! It was also good seeing James Drury who later gained fame as "The Virginian" in the television series of the same name.
