Maureen v.v. 3/20/2014 yeah, well apparently she wasn't aware this is a DIFFERENT film than "Little Caesar". Different genre, EGR spoofing a lot of what made LC great, accept it for what it is which is a quality Satirical Dramedy. Of course it's dofferent it's a different movie! Between this & all of Kevin Sellers "Reviews"(Pretensiously Contrqrian drivel) I've not found any quality information that isn't already known. Stick to reviewing the classics, most of which are great CLASSICS, not personal ramblings they're somply "Meh, it's not that great in my opinion."(Why? Because the majority actually says that is, therefore I must go against that!"

This movie was an unexpected pleasure. Mary Astor is so cute! And E.G. is good in this comedy role. When his "friends" come in from Chicago to help him at the end of the movie, it reminded me of The Godfather when he would make them an offer they couldn't refuse. Only it was so funny! Really enjoyed watching this.

I love Mary Astor. Mary Astor and Edward G. Robinson together is like Pastrami meets Lobster Thermidor. It has a side of Robinson that you don't see too often. Mary Astor played a part of a sophisticated women's with a soft and understanding warm heart? I would love for TCM to show this more often.

  • Little Caesar was better

It's best to watch Little Caesar first then this movie. This movie is a comedy gangster movie with a little romance for E.G. Robinson. It's OK but Little Caesar is better.

What a Wonderful movie! Edward G. Robinson is excellent, Mary Astor is a delight. The supporting cast is great. Great mix of comedy, crime, drama and romance. Nicely produced. The story is just so good, it is always engrossing and great fun along the way.
