  The film is unique on most levels; it ushers in the following decades of field animal behavioral research and documentaries, and deals with the psychological issues of parental neglect and support. Its cast is all-star, including Trevor Howard, William Holden, the brilliantly natural child actress Pamela Franklin, and of course, The Lion. There is no candy-coating of the setting in Africa and what happens when a wild child has total command of a large cat. The film is shot on location, with gorgeous natural scenery and iconic African wildlife populating the story. This film is a true classic, though evidently largely unknown. But there are many of us out here who would love to add this excellent adventure tale to our collection.
