Yes Philip...it is Edward Arnold. His voice and laugh are unmistakable. Good movie with a very good performance by Doug Fairbanks Jr. Another drawing card is Aline MacMahon....she's always a hoot.
Is that Edward Arnold as Inspector Ennis?
- Philip Stekel
Can someone set me straight here? The scene in the Office Of The Medical Examiner approximately 26 minutes into the movie....... if that isn't Edward Arnold then who is it?Also later in the movie when Guy Kibbee sees a picture of Jimmy Dolan with his face covered in a boxer's orthodox stance as opposed to the "Southpaw Stance" (fighting left handed versus right) about 48 minutes into the movie......there again is another scene with Edward Arnold? No mention is made in Leonard Maltin's review although he observes a ten year old Mickey Rooney and then unknown John Wayne (who received billing). There is also no mention in Edward Arnold's "offical" film bibliography but it sure does look and sound like him. Plus not to mention..........Arnold had a very distinctive laugh.Am I crazy? Someone set me straight here. Arnold had already some movie credits to his resume and so this baffles me.
Excellent Movie with Great Actors
This film is my favorite movie of all time because the cast is great and Douglas Fairbanks,Jr.'s performance is perfect. I think this is his best film from the 1930's. I like the scenes between Douglas Fairbanks,Jr. and Loretta Young. Their chemistry is amazing. Also, the scenes between Douglas Fairbanks,Jr., Mickey Rooney, and the other kids are fun to watch. This film is a must see for everyone and I never get tired of watching it.
Emotionally Powerful Movie
- Eddie Wood
This is an emotionally powerful movie concerning an individual's loss of faith in love and people.Skillful plot twists obscure the direction of the movie and keep things highly suspenseful. The scenes are fast-paced. Great cast- Loretta Young, Douglas Fairbanks Jr.,Guy Kibbee,Aline McMahon (even John Wayne& Mickey Rooney in small roles).
