  • One of the Tracy/Hepburn Classics

How could anyone not see the humor in this movie? I just read a review that said just that...? Granted that movies, like all forms of art, are very subjective and we all have our own personal likes and dislikes, but if the person who posted that review considers themselves a fan of classic cinema, they should have their TCM insignia ripped from their epaulets and drummed out of the corps (joke). I watch this movie every time that it is on thanks to movies on demand, I'll watch it several times before TCM removes it.

I do love this film, story and all. True, William Ching's character is aggravating as all get-out. Also, I hated to see Katharine Hepburn's character as weak and vulnerable as it was in the beginning of the story. However, in spite of these aspects of the story itself, this is one of my favorite Tracy-Hepburn films. I love her real athletic ability. I was truly impressed and surprised. Also, enjoyed seeing the appearances of Chuck Connors, the then, professional baseball player for the L A Dodgers, I think. I also loved seeing the film appearance of the famous golf athlete, Babe Zaharias. What a treat that was!! Thank you TCM, for introducing us to this fabulous film.

  • THIS IS A COMEDY?

With Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy headlining "Pat and Mike" - I would have assumed this would be a good movie, but sadly, I do not see how it was labeled as a comedy. Very few laughs are seen or heard. Pat's fianc Collier, is an irritating distraction for her whenever he's around. Mike is a money grubbing pushy thief who wants to be Pat's sports manager. Low wattage boxer Davie, is quite a character, adding some life to this story. Katharine Hepburn seems exceptionally beautiful in this movie - perhaps because she's working with her "true love". If you're a fan of golf, tennis, horses or boxing then there's probably something that will interest you here, but it did little for me.

again one of the best movies this duo has done. the fact that it is has golf in the plot line and is still able to attract the masses is amazing. they(tracy&hepburn)are timeless and classic.

  • the best of the team

by far this is the best pairing of tracy and hepburn even surpassing the better known guess who's coming to dinner and the overrated adam's rib and woman of the year it has a great script by the kanins and a superb supporting performance by aldo ray
