The working title for this film was Jungle. Portions of this film were shot on location in Chatsworth, CA. According to a August 10, 1935 news item in Hollywood Reporter, shooting for this film began 20 May and ended June 26, 1935, at which point the studio found the story unsatisfactory and rewrote it and assigned a new director. According to the news item, the film was then "almost entirely remade," and production ended on August 13, 1935. "The Cutting Room" column of Motion Picture Herald on July 13, 1935 notes the film's earlier ending: After swearing her love for Michael, Rosemary is fatally wounded in an auto accident. On her deathbed in the hospital, Rosemary calls Michael's name before dying, and is overheard by John. Later, Rosemary's ghost causes John to save Michael in the desert. According to contemporary sources, stock footage of herds of animals was used in this film.
