• First time I ever walked out of a movie...

  Me and my teenage buddy went to see the comedy team of Allen and Rossi in The Last of the Secret Agents back in the mid-60's when the movie first came out. It was the first time either of us ever walked out in the middle of a movie. I mean, hey, we paid our quarter admission and bought our Ju-Ju-Bees. But this movie was really not funny. At one point, me and Ed looked at each other and realized we didn't have to suffer through this whole thing. It was our money we'd spent. Our parents weren't with us. We could do what we wanted. And we wanted to leave. We'd seen Allen and Rossi, a copy-cat comedy team of Martin and Lewis, many times on The Ed Sullivan Show. They made us laugh. Hey, we were 13 year old boys. And we liked James Bond movies. So, a spy movie spoof appealed to us. I just remember never laughing. Not once. We kept whispering to each other, "Was that supposed to be a joke?" Allen - the short supposed to be funny one - did his familiar "Helo, Dere." several times. And I remember not understanding the plot or else just not caring. I vividly remember this experience as the first time I ever saw a really bad movie. Obviously, it has made a life long impression.
