Excellent movie,excellent cast,great Hitch
Fantastic in so many areas, even for all those involved in plotting with Nazis.
Far Excels PBS Version This Year
Top marks, outstanding actors and action,The Cricketeers are a real hoot.
The Lady Vanishes

A delightful suspense-comedy from Hitchcock. Lockwood & Redgrave look for Whitty after she seemingly dissapears on a train ride, great comic relife from Radford & Wayne. The wait to establish the actual dissaperance is worth it, filled with Hitchcock's usual mastery of mystery, with a hint of predicatble romance. The fantastic final great film from Hitchcock before coming to America to make "Rebecca." I give it a 4.5/5.
Signor Doppo is certifiably pazzo

Interesting story of the tension building between 3 nations the year before WW2 broke out in Europe, with the 3 main protagonists British and the 3 main antagonists obviously German and Italian. This movie is still understandably well regarded 3 generations after it was a hit with critics and audiences, but it no longer holds the same interest (it's been copiously copied). The Master of Suspense's later "North By Northwest" holds up 3 times as well, and "The Lady Vanishes" has but 39% the punch of Hitch's earlier British production "The 39 Steps".

ONE OF THE BEST

The '38 version of this movie is one of my top ten favourites. How could it fail, with Agatha Christie writing the original book and Alfred Hitchcock directing the movie. The old production tricks are a hoot to watch. Don't forget to look for Hitchcock in the movie.
