Nothing. Its a comedy, social commentary, a historical reflection of the times, a funny film about a serial killer, who manages to win our respect and admiration at the cost of forgetting he is a murderer. Or should he be called an righteous killer who revenges his mothers insult? There are two great acting performances. As usual, Guiness is brilliant. One of the few actors who really deserved his British knight ship. Dennis Price, an relatively unknown actor who has work as an actor for years, shows that he was the acting equal to Guiness. Guiness plays many parts, the fool, the harmless idiot, the greedy Lord while Price plays the killer, who cleverly and single handedly kills his way to the top. Which basically is how most of the British aristocracy managed over the centuries.

This is one of the greatest movies I have ever watched. Thank you Turner Classic Movies. This is a movie that could be remaid and still have a great plot. But since I have seen the original I wish I could see it more than the one time I caught it on Turner Classic Movies. I wish I could watch it this weekend because its great to watcher over and over like watching Gone with the Wind.

  • One of the three great black comedies

'Kind Hearts and Coronets' stands with 'Arsenic and Old Lace' and "Dr Strangelove' as one of the best black comedies ever made. A subtly delicious work with a dry sense of wit and occasional touch of the absurd (like the Admiral Dascoyne going down with his ship), 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' showcases the excellent talents of a top notch cast; the most noted being the late Sir Alec Guiness as all the family members targeted by the protagonist (antagonist?). A great film that never gets stale.

I think the real star of this picture is Dennis Price.

The dry British humor in this film is so wonderful. Alec Guiness delivers a memorable and quite brilliant performance. Great story excellently handled by director Robert Hamer and the screenplay is a delight. A great classic that is tremendously entertaining.

  • The Apex of Black Comedy

This film is black comedy at its best. Such witty, brilliant humor is hardly seen anywhere else. The storyline--a man who decides to avenge his disowned mother by killing everyone who is next in line between him and his dukedom. What could be more humorous than the way he decides to pick them all off as subtly as possible? Alec Guiness is all of the victims--and he is marvelous at them all.

  • Wonderful British Comedy

This is British comedy at its best. Alec Guinness, performing eight different roles, is wonderful! Well worth watching.
