As I sit this morning watching this film on TV, I remember watching it on probably Saturday Night at the Movies back in the 60's. Back then, we had no videos, dvd's or computers...you watched the movie when it was on and that was that! I would always be so disappointed when the movie ended.I LOVED this film and fancied myself in love with Robert Wagner and Jeffrey Hunter. I have seen it many times over the years and was surprised to find it on tv this morning. Nothing has changed, I still love this movie and the stars that are in it. Back then, I watched whatever was on if RW or JH were in a film. They were great. So sorry JH left us too soon. Some things evoke memories of a past time, and this film takes me back to watching it on a portable tv and probably not even in color!!! If you have never seen it, and the opportunity arises, do yourself a favor and take a look. Maybe you won't love it like I do, but just enjoy all the stars assembled in movie and miss those that have left us.

I was only 13 when I saw this movie on the big screen and saw it several times on TV afterward. It was to me a very realistic look at the lives of the everyday soldiers who do the job of war and its affects on their personal lives.I think young people today would enjoy it for the story and the emotions. It is worth putting on dvd just to see the young actors that went on to long movie and TV careers.
