The working title of this film was Summer Camp. As noted in an October 1958 Hollywood Reporter news item, the film was shot in Las Vegas, NV. Hey Boy! Hey Girl! was the first film in which Louis Prima and Keely Smith appeared not just as musical performers, but as narrative protagonists. The film was made to capitalize on the then married entertainers' recent surge in popularity.
