The working title of this film was Henry and Dizzy, which was also the working title for Life with Henry. The film's opening credits read: "A Sequel to the Clifford Goldsmith 'Henry Aldrich Stories'." The film, which marked former editor Hugh Bennett's directorial debut, was the first Aldrich Family picture to star Jimmy Lydon as "Henry" and Charles Smith as "Dizzy." Paramount decided to replace Jackie Cooper in the lead role and Eddie Bracken as "Dizzy" when, according to news items, the actors became too old for the roles. Actress Patricia Burton, who appears in a bit part, was writer Val Burton's daughter. A Hollywood Reporter news item reported that Theodor Sparkuhl was initially slated as the film's cameraman. Some scenes were shot on location in Chatsworth, CA. For additional information on the series, please consult the Series Index and for Life with Henry.
