I really enjoyed this film. Judy Garland was just adorable. She was funny, sweet, cute, brave and loveable. The entire cast was great. The songs were great. Ray Bolger was a wonderful dancer. His tap dance solo was amazing.

I don't watch much TV. And I was staying at this inn, courtesy of the Red Cross, a few months ago, after my neighbours' house burned down and smoked out my house. It was 4 degrees day and night for a week at the inn, and there was nothing to do but sit and mope in a motel bed and have a great free breakfast the next morning, surrounded by US Army .On the motel TV the third night came this musical/movie, about 2AM. The first thing that hooked me was some neat song. Then the dance numbers started. Then there were more songs. And then some pretty snappy comedy, dialogue and physical humor. Some of the songs were a bit long, but what *hooks* they had!See, I had missed the opening reel or so of the film. So I had no idea that I was watching, for the first time, a 72-year old movie called The Harvey Girls. The music and the acting AFTER the opening hit song cure did it for me at a time my wife and I needed it.I insist that anyone who claims that the songs after 'Atchison' were average never was graced with a respite from homeless 4-degree and who got to watch this swell movie *after* the big hit was sing. 'Harvey's Girls' was that good

Judy Garland was 24 when she made this film and she was never lovelier or in finer voice. This film has some beautiful music done with great verve. There are quite a few stars in it and all of them are very good. John Hodiak is terrific in the male lead and, unfortunately, we were robbed of his acting abilities when he died at a very young 41. The real Harvey girls worked in the Harvey House restaurants and hotels around the country and, back in the day, they were as plentiful as Waffle House is today. As a matter of fact, the Harvey House conglomerate were the first "chain" restaurants in America. Fred Harvey consulted on this film so that the facts about the girls could be as real as possible. Knowing the history here makes this film all the more enjoyable!

OK, the plot is silly but you're not seeing this movie for the story. You're only watching the incomparable Judy, in fine form for this film. The musical numbers are great, and Harvey Girls features one of the better Petticoat Ballets courtesy of the Goldwyn Girls (a standard feature of MGM musicals of the era). Well worth seeing any time it's on.

I really enjoyed this movie. John and Judy have so much chemistry! John Hodiak is at his best, and is just so very handsome. Judy is lovely and in fine voice. A very enjoyable film....

Uns dos melhores filmes que Judy Garland fez com canes fantsticas e soltando uma voz poderosa e ao mesmo tempo suave. Tudo no filme excelente. TCM exiba este musical, pois ele um dos meus favoritos.
