Private eye Steve Marshall is in São Paulo seeking a woman wanted in the United States for murder. At his hotel he meets another woman, Elizabeth, who suggests that the murderer is Kitty Herman, a nightclub singer. Steve visits the club and is beaten up by the owner, Victor Marlow. Steve then learns from the police that he has stumbled onto a counterfeiting ring being operated by Victor and Elizabeth. Working with both the authorities and Kitty, who admits being the woman he is seeking but claims to be innocent, Steve lays a trap for the counterfeiters. The showdown occurs at a deserted warehouse where Victor kills the doublecrossing Elizabeth and then attempts to shoot Steve. The police arrive in time to apprehend Victor and rescue Steve. Kitty is vindicated, and Steve returns to the States.
