2 male Oscar winners and the iconic Bob Hope
- Jeff Boston
With future Academy Award winners Lukas and Quinn, Chaplin wife Goddard (and her gams!), and the personification of patriotism, Bob Hope, this pre-Pearl Harbor haunter and treasure of its time (of course it's dated) remains, as a past poster opined, funny, romantic, and scary. Even more scary were two lines spoken by Hope. One unintentionally foretells the coming of Castro a generation later ("See Cuba and die!") and the other speaks of the mindless and meandering path American culture has taken in the 74 years since the making of this movie, with Democrats being compared to zombies.
Let's see "Scared Stiff"!
This film is very good but let do a comparison---show "Scared Stiff" too!
The Ghost Breakers (1940)
- Jay Higgins
This is one of Bob Hope's funniest and best movies. His comic timing has rarely been better. Paulette Goddard is terrific and Willie Best steals every scene he's in. It is always entertaining and a must for anyone who appreciates Bob Hope's special brand of humor.
Bob Hope at his scene stealing best!
- Gloria Miller
I love this movie! It's witty, it's funny and it's spooky!!!!
Enjoyable for all Ages
I love old movies and this one would have to be one of my favorites. Bob Hope was simply hilarious! I loved the scene of Hope's assistant checking to make sure the zombie was still in the closet.
The Ghost Breakers Very Fun Movie
This movie is a non-stop, never a boring moment romp with a young Bob Hope. I am a long time fan and I think this is his best work. The supporting cast is top notch too! Don't miss the scene with the travel brochure about Havana Cuba, absolutely hilarious! Comedy, romance and suspense are all here for your enjoyment. I watch it at least two times a year and never get tired of it!
