This was a marvelous History lesson and the actors were wonderful of course Omar Sharif was as usual proving he could be a charming and handsome actor as well as quite violent, and ruthless.

    I. too, have searched for this movie that has impacted my life and love for historical films. I was taken to see this when it came out in 1965 on the big screen. I was 12 yrs. old. The raw action, beautiful cinematography, and the variety of human emotions and situations that inspired each character to their full potential literally burst off the screen. I would be willing to pay the price to have this in my dvd collection. Please, please, help myself and others to get this relased and please play it on your show. thank you.

This was a blockbuster movie and one of the few big budget films that has NEVER been released to the public. It is time to do so!

This is an excellent movie. Omar Sharif is great in this. His acting is wonderful and so real. This movie does not hesitate to show a part of history that we in the West tend not to know much of. Movies bring these histories and literature to life to attract the wider audiences and encourage us to learn more by reading about the topics.

Finding this movie in any letterbox version is impossible. For years it was only on TV in that crappy pan and scan format. The Widescreen version is beautiful for capturing the clashing armies. I tried Tivoing this today, but a local thunderstorm caused My Direct TV to lose its signal. Thank God you guys are showing this film again in September.

This movie may have been punned by the critics of the day, but it was one of those movies I will always remember for the excellence of the cast, the cinematography, and the visual impact. Please get the powers-that-be to release it on DVD.

This movie had such an impact on me when I saw it in 1965 that it has remained one of my most favorite films of all times. I would really like to have a copy on DVD!!!

  • Epic of 1965

This was one of the big epic films of 1965. Omar Sharif was one of the leading actors of the day and Stephen Boyd had recently been in Ben Hur. If the current movie Mongol is the truth, this movie strayed a long way from the historical truth. In spite of that, it is a movie that I remember very well with lots of action.

I saw this movie when it was released back in 1965. It was a wonderful movie and would like to see it released in DVD. I just looked it up on TCM and I am very disappointed to see it is not available. Please let me know what else I can do to get it released on DVD.

I saw this great movie in the theater, when released in 1965. And was delighted to see such a cast of actors such as Omar Shariff, Stephen Boyd, Eli Wallach, Robert Morsley, and others. It has a lot of action, and I recommend it to young audiences to appreciate what good actors were around back then.
