Information in the file on this film in the MPAA/PCA Collection at the AMPAS Library notes that the original title of the picture, Hell Diggers, had to be changed before a PCA certificate was issued. A letter to producer George Mercader from Joseph I. Breen, director of the PCA office, indicated that the word "hell" could not be used in a film's title if it was to be certified by the PCA. A certificate was issued for the film under the title Fury Below on November 23, 1936, however, no reviews or other release information has been located on the picture prior to 1938. Many of the details in the above plot summary are based on a descriptive plot review of the picture for certification. According to a review in the New York Times of Frontier Town, Fury Below appeared with it in New York as a second feature.
