I agree with Dan. Any movie that kills off a great character actor like Jack Elam five minutes in is certifiably unwatchable, as is this film. Indeed, it's the only Robert Aldrich flic that is in that category. (Hell, even "The Legend Of Lilah Claire" is better.) Truly a film for bored, dirty old men. Give it a D.

In this picture, Jack Elam's familiar-and-distinctive face shows up quite early-- but, he is not allowed to survive even until his name pops up in the opening credits! That might well be some kind of a record...!?!

Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin both have designs on becoming boss of the waterfront in post Civil War era Galveston, Texas. Watching with anticipation is crooked banker Victor Buono and hired gun Charles Bronson, who are more than willing to do away with one or both of them.
