Riding with a group in search of wild mustangs, Wilda Lanning falls from her horse and is almost trampled in a stampede. She is saved by Ring Hazzard, a young man who lives in the mountains with his father Jeff, a fugitive who was falsely accused of murder. Wilda remains with Ring and Jeff overnight. Before Ring returns her to her home, Jeff is crushed by a runaway horse. Before dying, Jeff advises Ring to make his home with other people, instead of remaining in the mountains. Ring rounds up the mustangs, hoping to sell them in town. On the way, Wilda is bitten by a rattlesnake. Ring shoots a bullet into the wound to drain it and leaves the horses behind in order to get her to a doctor as soon as possible. In town, the doctor tells Ring that his quick thinking saved Wilda's life. Meanwhile, Matt Roegan steals Ring's horses and refuses to comply with his demand for their return. The two men fight over the horses and Ring wins. Ramrod Locke offers to buy the mustangs and reveals that he is Ring's grandfather. He also offers Ring a job, but Ring is angry because Ramrod believed his father was guilty of murder even after his daughter pleaded his innocence. Ring is determined to clear his father's name with the help of Indian Joe, a friend who witnessed the murder but did not see the killer's face. Riding in the mountains, Wilda sees Roegan heading for Ring's place. She rides back to town and tells her father and Ramrod, who form a posse. Meanwhile, Ring has gathered his friends around him. Joe recognizes Roegan as the man who committed the murder. A fight breaks out during which Roegan is killed. After the posse arrives, Ramrod offers to help Ring build his ranch, and Wilda tells Ring that she loves him.
