The most handsome classic actor
I think Robert Taylor is sooo handsome and a great actor .I love him in this movie "Flight Command ", such an awsome movie . Thank you for this movie , Please lets have more of his movies , I am a big fan of Robert Taylor.
Flight Command (1940)
- John Wagner
I loved this film when I was a kid and I love it now. Flight Command is on my personal "Top 10" list of all-time best films. It's pre-war Hollywood at its greatest, preserves vintage film of Grumman's F3F fighter aircraft, has a great story line and - above all - is fun to watch. Like THE GALLANT HOURS, this movie belongs on DVD before its lost. Flight Command inspired me to pursue Naval Aviation as a young man; something I successfully accomplished in the US Marines...just like Bob Taylor. Semper FI and keep 'em flying everyone!
Vote to have it released!
- T. Frei
You can vote to have this released on video, it has 524 votes right now, email your friends and have them vote! In the upper right hand corner! Greg "Pappy" Boyington (Black Sheep Squadron) apparently flew one of the planes in this movie, and these planes are incredibly rare on film! Great footage.

I luckily caught this movie when it was shown last month. No mention of it being shown again. I first saw the only known complete plane at the Pensicola Naval Air Museum. A must see place. On display was the first Grumman F1F. I have a picture and info from Museum. Email me at Clemtony@juno.com for a copy. I worked for Grumman in Flight Test on the Navy F14. My father-in-law worked on the Lunar Module and winning Space Schuttle design. My brother-in-law is still in the transportation dept. in Bethpage, NY. We have many retiree clubs around the country and I suspect there are still some people who knew this plane intimately and would kill for a copy of the movie. I would kill for a copy. Please make it available to hthe public. Tony Moors F14-007 Supertom now sitting on the deck of the USS Intrepid in NYC.
A special Movie
- Joe Cicero
This movie inspired a boy to become a Naval Aviator.
Class Pre-World War II Naval Aviation Film
- George Jepson
This classic naval aviation film depicts pre-World War aircraft (Grumman F3F-3) as well as carriers of the era. The film fills a gap in feature naval films of the late 1930s through the the early 1950s. Anyone interested in the history of naval aviation should enjoy the film.
Book on 1940 Fleet
- Skipper Steely
I have been unable to see Flight Command but have written a book coming out next year about the commander of the Fleet at that time...Admiral James Otto Richardson. Skipper Steely
