The working title was Brazen. A pre-release article lists Sam Ornitz and Horace McCoy as adaptors. According to news items in Hollywood Reporter, Carole Lombard was considered for the lead role, and Gene Thackrey was signed as co-adaptor with William Lipman. Thackrey's contribution to the final film has not been determined. Hollywood Reporter also reported that actor Dick Talmadge cancelled an arrangement to star in six Reliance Pictures films in order to be second unit director for this film. A contemporary article in Liberty magazine notes that Gaston Glass was a leading man to Sarah Bernhardt; in addition, the magazine claims that Rudolph Valentino's brother Alberto appears in this film.
